Receive the benefit of statistical analysis that is protected by the attorney client privilege.

The results of a HMDA data/fair lending review will not only help identify gaps and errors in the HMDA data, but it will also provide insight into lending patterns, policy implementations, and potential discriminatory practices that may be occurring in your organization. Using the ComplyWeb software (www.web.ratacomply.com), MB Consulting can both demonstrate the software’s features, and analyze your HMDA and/or CRA data under the protections of the attorney client privilege.

MB Consulting also has at its fingertips certain fair lending software tools that enhance MB Consulting’s abilities to perform a wide range of fair lending consulting tasks for your institution. For example, MB Consulting can help you run scorecards on all government Risk Factors (Pricing, Underwriting, Redlining, Steering), which highlight any statistically significant disparities between Prohibited and Non-Prohibited basis applicants. MB Consulting can also perform Comparative File Reviews on high-risk categories and help you document the key factors for the different outcomes and categories. And if your company needs assistance with compliance software, MB Consulting can help.

An important tool regulators use in determining whether a mortgage lender is in compliance with fair lending requirements is the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (“HMDA”) and its implementing Regulation C. HMDA requires certain kinds of mortgage lenders to collect and report information related to mortgage loans they originate on an annual basis. According to the regulators, a mortgage lender’s failure to accurately collect and report HMDA data is an indication of a weak CMS. Just this August the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau proposed changes to Regulation C (the “Revisions”) that stand to substantially expand the kinds of data that must be collected and reported for each loan.

Given the increased scope of the proposed Revisions, your institution must ensure it has software in place to minimize human error. This can be done through a HMDA data review. MB Consulting can use key data gathered in Rata ComplyWeb (along with other key underwriting data) to conduct a full fair lending review for your organization.

Rata ComplyWeb, offered by RATA Associates, provides a more comprehensive and more cost-effective solution to HMDA and/or CRA data collection, analysis and government reporting than is offered by the free government HMDA and/or CRA Data Entry Software (“DES”) used by a majority of small financial institutions. With Rata Comply Web you can securely register online, create a Reporting Entity on a secure server and then import or key in bank data. It is that easy. There is no advanced hardware to purchase or software to download, install, keep track of, or maintain. And with this software you can correct, automatically geocode (to compliance-grade standards) and submit your HMDA or CRA data error-free electronically to your reporting regulatory agency.
